Tetouan: Two children killed in partial collapse of house in medina

Two children died in the early hours of Saturday after a house partially collapsed in the medina of Tetouan, local authorities said. The building, consisting of a ground floor and two upper levels, was home to five families totaling 11 people.

Upon being alerted, local authorities, security services, and civil protection teams rushed to the scene to carry out search and rescue operations, secure the area, and take the necessary safety measures, the same source said.

Rescue teams recovered the body of a 10-year-old child, while an 8-year-old girl, who had been seriously injured, was rushed to hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

Local authorities added that the competent prosecutor’s office has been notified and an investigation has been opened.
