On Tuesday in Casablanca, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, led the signing ceremony for agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at bolstering key initiatives in digitalization, research, and health innovation.
These agreements were formalized during the inaugural edition of GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco (May 4-6). They were signed after a meeting focused on accelerating health system transformation through a results-oriented partnership. This meeting was co-chaired by Tehraoui and the Director General of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), Khalid Safir, as part of the strategic collaboration initiated between the two entities in 2025.
Two pivotal agreements were signed between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the CDG. The first agreement outlines the creation of a digital laboratory, envisioned as a strategic hub to drive national innovation in health technologies and reinforce digital sovereignty.
The second agreement is dedicated to the expansion and enhancement of the emergency medical assistance system (SAMU) across all Moroccan regions.
Moreover, the ministry entered into a partnership with DeepEcho to establish a framework for institutional and research collaboration aimed at the dissemination, adoption, and clinical evaluation of AI solutions for pregnancy ultrasound follow-ups in public health facilities.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed with Huawei Technologies Morocco and Dott Medical, focusing on technical and scientific cooperation. This agreement seeks to create an integrated institutional framework for the development and implementation of innovative solutions in telemedicine, driven by research and development.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection finalized a strategic memorandum of understanding with AstraZeneca, laying the groundwork for comprehensive cooperation.
