Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi, who suffered a thigh injury during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, trained individually ahead of PSG’s rescheduled Ligue 1 Matchday 29 clash against RC Lens, the club announced.
«Achraf Hakimi is working individually on the pitch, while Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, and Warren Zaïre-Emery continue their treatment protocols», PSG said in a statement.
The Parisian club remains hopeful that the Moroccan international will recover in time for the Champions League final against Arsenal, scheduled for May 30 in Budapest.
Hakimi, captain of Morocco’s Atlas Lions, also attended the 34th edition of the French National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) awards ceremony on Monday evening, where he was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season, dominated by PSG players.
His teammate Ousmane Dembélé was voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, while Désiré Doué received the Best Young Player award, also for the second year in a row.
Hakimi picked up the right thigh injury late in PSG’s 5-4 first-leg victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final. He subsequently missed the return leg in Munich as well as Sunday’s home match against Brest.
