Moroccan leftist party says leaders summoned for investigation
DR

The National Brigade of the Judicial Police in Casablanca has summoned Jamal Berrajaa, secretary-general of the Democratic Labour Way Party, and Hassan Mghabar, the party’s local secretary in Tangier, to appear before investigators on May 14 and 15, according to a statement issued by the party’s political bureau.

The party said the summons comes amid what it described as a campaign of «blockade and restrictions» targeting its activities and members. It pointed to the refusal to grant legal filing receipts to several of its local and regional branches, as well as its exclusion from public media and restrictions on its access to public halls and spaces for organizing activities, including its sixth national congress scheduled for next July.

According to the statement, institutions that received the party’s requests to use public venues failed to respond, citing the need for prior authorization from local authorities, a requirement the party said is «contrary to the law on public freedoms».

The Democratic Labour Way Party also expressed solidarity with Berrajaa and Mghabar, stressing that it would continue its «struggle» and proceed with its sixth national congress on July 24, 25 and 26, 2026, despite what it described as «repression, restrictions and blockade».
