Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, and Gregory Coleman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Rabat on Monday aimed at strengthening security cooperation between Morocco and Liberia.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the seventh edition of the Open Days of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), according to a statement from the agency.

The DGSN said the agreement reflects the two countries’ shared commitment to strengthening ties of friendship, technical cooperation, and operational partnership between their police services, as well as their conviction that cooperation is essential to reinforcing shared security.

The MoU aims to establish a solid framework for police cooperation in combating various forms of cross-border crime, terrorism, and violent extremism through information sharing, technical assistance, operational coordination, and capacity-building for security services.

The agreement also provides for expanding cooperation to include coordination in the areas of migration, border policing, forensic and technical investigations, police training, and the development of training methods aimed at strengthening policing skills.

According to the DGSN, the signing of the memorandum underscores the growing importance of strengthening security partnerships across Africa as part of broader South-South cooperation efforts.
