Morocco continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the global tomato market, consolidating its place among the world’s leading exporters thanks to sustained growth in export volumes and steadily rising revenues in recent years.
According to a report by the platform HortoInfo, based on United Nations data on trade in fresh and chilled tomatoes, this performance reflects the Kingdom’s growing competitiveness in the export-oriented agricultural sector.
In 2025, Morocco ranked third worldwide in tomato exports, with shipments totaling 707.6 million kilograms, accounting for 9.6% of the global market. The ranking confirms Morocco’s steady position among the sector’s major exporters, supported by growth of around 35% in export volumes over the past decade.
In terms of revenues, Morocco also retained third place globally, generating €1.157 billion from tomato exports. The figures highlight the strong presence of Moroccan produce on international markets and its ability to generate significant added value within global trade.
The average export price of Moroccan tomatoes reached €1.64 per kilogram, reflecting a balance between international competitiveness and higher export revenues, while further cementing the sector as one of the most dynamic pillars of Morocco’s agricultural exports.
According to the same data, Mexico remained the world’s leading tomato exporter in 2025 with nearly 1.987 billion kilograms exported, followed by the Netherlands with more than 1.044 billion kilograms.
