Morocco heatwave to continue through Friday with temperatures reaching 44°C

A heatwave and unusually hot weather are expected to affect several provinces across Morocco from Tuesday through Friday, according to the Direction générale de la météorologie (DGM).

In an orange-level weather alert, the DGM said temperatures ranging between 39°C and 44°C are forecast from Tuesday to Friday in the provinces of Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, Aousserd and Tata.

The agency added that temperatures between 37°C and 42°C are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in the provinces of Sidi Slimane, Rhamna, Nouaceur, Khémisset, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknès, Khénifra, Fez, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, Benslimane, Berrechid, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Marrakech, Moulay Yaâcoub, Taounate, Larache, Ouezzane, Essaouira, Safi, Guelmim, Taroudant, Tan-Tan, Laâyoune and Tarfaya.

The same weather conditions are expected on Tuesday in Agadir, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Rabat, Salé and Skhirat-Témara, where temperatures are expected to range between 38°C and 41°C.

Meanwhile, temperatures between 34°C and 38°C are forecast during the same period in Sidi Ifni, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia and El Jadida.
