A heatwave, high temperatures, and thundery showers accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts are expected to affect several Moroccan provinces from Friday to Sunday, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
In an orange-level weather alert bulletin, the DGM said temperatures ranging from 40°C to 45°C are forecast from Friday to Sunday in the provinces of Errachidia, Jerada, Taourirt, Figuig, Zagora, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd, Guercif and Boulemane.
Hot weather, with temperatures between 39°C and 42°C, is also expected on Saturday and Sunday in the provinces of Taza, Berkane, Oujda-Angad, Fez, Moulay Yaâcoub and Taounate.
Meanwhile, thundery showers bringing 20 to 30 mm of rainfall, accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts, are forecast on Friday between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the provinces of Khénifra, Midelt, Ifrane, Boulemane and Sefrou.
