A man was killed and 10 others injured yesterday around midnight when a 48-year-old man in a van drove over pedestrians near a mosque in Finsbury Park, London, the BBC reports.
According to the same source the victims of the attack were all Muslims that were outside a Muslim Welfare House. Speaking to the same source, an eyewitness called Abdul Rahman declared that «the driver had said he wanted to "kill all Muslims"», he added saying that «he struck the man and helped subdue him».
The suspected assailant was arrested by the police. The Metropolitan Police assistant Commissioner told the BBC that «the "terrorist attack" began when the van was driven into a man who was already being given first aid by the public on the pavement. Sadly that man has died. It is too early to state if his death was a result of this attack.»
Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, stated following the attack that : «While this appears to be an attack on a particular community, like the terrible attacks in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge it is also an assault on all our shared values of tolerance, freedom and respect.»
The attack comes just a few days after the tragedy of Grenfell tower where fire broke out causing the death of at least 58 people most of them are Muslims.
