The Spanish Interior Minister is expected to visit Rabat on Tuesday 29th of August the Spanish news agency EFE said. Juan Ignacio Zoido will meet his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit and will discuss the ongoing investigations on the attacks of Barcelona and Cambrils, adds the same source.
The move comes as the Spanish authorities believe that there is positive «improvement in security relations» between the two countries, particularly in the fight against terrorism, organized crime and human trafficking, a ministry statement said. Zoido's visit is a follow-up to his trip to Paris on August 23rd with the objective of strengthening cooperation measures against jihadists groups.
For the record, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the DGST, still detains a suspect from the Namouss district in Nador. He is suspected of having links with the perpetrators of the attacks in Catalonia. Two other individuals arrested in connection with the Moroccan investigations were released by the BCIJ.
