The Finnish police released two of the Moroccan suspects linked to the Turku attack

The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (KRP) has announced today the release of two of the four Moroccan suspects held over links to the Turku stabbing attack. They were accused of participating in the attack in Finland, according to the Spanish news agency EFE. They will not face any charges.

«The two men had been held in pre-trial detention for a week for their possible involvement in the two murders and eight attempted assassinations for terrorist purposes. Now, there is no longer any suspicion as to the perpetrator of these crimes,» KRP said in a statement released by the same source.

The Chief Inspector of the KRP explained to the local press that the Finnish police will continue questioning them as witnesses. Law enforcement officials believe their statements may be useful to the investigation.

After the Turku attack, the Finnish police arrested the alleged attacker identified as Abderrahmane Bouanane, a 22-year-old Moroccan national and six other suspects.

The security forces released five of them. Another suspect is actively sought and an international arrest warrant has been issued against him. He is also believed to be Moroccan.
