A man suspected of supplying the terrorist cell that carried out the attacks in Barcelona earlier this month was arrested in Morocco, a source close from the investigation told Reuters yesterday. The arrested is suspected of giving gas canisters to the jihadists.
According to the same source, «the cell accumulated around 120 canisters of butane gas at a house in a town south of Barcelona with which, police say, it planned to carry out a larger bomb attack».
The man was arrested in Casablanca, the source said without giving further information. Juan Ignacio Zoido, the Spanish Interior Minister confirmed during a press conference held yesterday in Rabat during his visit to Morocco that two Moroccan suspects were arrested over links to the cell behind the twin attacks in Catalonia.
For the record, the attacks of Catalonia had killed 16 people and injured more than 120. The suspects were all originally from Morocco and were radicalized according to initial investigations by an Imam in Ripoll.
