King Mohammed VI is expected to sign a number of investment agreements in the Congo Republic, said Bloomberg Thursday quoting the Congolese Environment and Tourism Minister Arlette Soudan-Nonault.
According to the same source, the Moroccan sovereign is to attend a summit of leaders, hosted by the Central African nation on the 28th of April, to discuss the Congo Basin Blue Fund, an initiative designed to help the countries of the Congo Basin finance a shift in their economies from reliance on forest-based resources to much greater use of renewable river and water-based resources, Soudan–Nonault told Bloomberg.
King Mohammed VI is expected to meet Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso during the same visit.
The signed agreements will cover industries related to technology, transport, agriculture, fishing, mining and health, the minister concluded.
Morocco, Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Congo Republic and Rwanda are among the the Congo Basin Blue Fund signatories.
