The Liberian Football Association (LFA) announced that it is voting for the North American joint bid, competing against Morocco, says the BBC on Thursday.

LFA’s president Musa Bility said that the decision was taken after he held talks with Liberian President George Weah, who was also a international footballer, and the government, says the same source.

«Bility said the long-running traditional relationship between Liberia and the United States, the many Liberians living in the US and the impact the World Cup will have on them were key in its endorsement decision», said Bility.

For the record, a vote is taking place on the 13th of June in Russia to decide which of the two bidding nations is to host the international tournament. Morocco is facing Canada, the United States and Mexico.

The Kingdom has already secured the support of several federations from Africa, Europe and Asia.
