Rabat hosts from the 3rd to the 5th of July another round of negotiations to conclude a new fisheries agreement with the European Union. Ten days before the expiry of the current treaty, to be invalid on July 14th, the series of talks are closely followed by Spanish fishers.
The Spanish government is also keeping an eye on the negotiations taking place in the Kingdom this week. In fact, Secretary-General of the Spanish Fisheries Ministry Alicia Villauriz affirmed on Tuesday, 3rd of July, that her country is «firmly committed» to work with by the European Commission to ensure the continuity of its fishing activities in Morocco.
In April, Morocco and the European Commission started a series of negotiations to renew the fisheries agreement concluded between Rabat and Brussels in 2014. The Western Sahara waters is at the heart of negotiations attended by the Moroccan Foreign Affairs’ representatives.
