Café Hafa, a mythical place in the city of Tangier, closed its doors Saturday morning, after its owner was accused of building a terrace without obtaining a license from the city council.
Local online newspaper Tanja 24 reported the information, indicating that the local authorities in the northern city destructed the part built without a permit. «The authorities demolished the said construction, which prevented customers from going to the cafe», says the same source.

The intervention of the local authorities was denounced by Abderrahman El Akel, owner of the café. Speaking to Arabic-language online newspaper Hespress, he said that the «intervention has been marked by several dysfunctions».
He added that he did not know about the authorities' decision and that he was not even notified about it.
For the record, Café Hafa was built in 1921 and is visited by Moroccan tourists and foreigners.
