Morocco is expected to import 3 million tons of soft wheat this year, reports Reuters, quoting French wheat exporters.
French grains export promotion agency revealed their forecasts in a presentation held Tuesday, 9th of October, in the Moroccan capital, adds the same source.
This announcement was made after the Moroccan Agriculture Ministry announced last week that it is canceling customs duty on soft wheat, starting from the 1st of November.
The decision, which will have to be approved by the government council, will allow importers to «better plan reserves», added the ministry.
For the record, the Kingdom has advised millers to purchase local wheat instead of importing it from May to October.
