Making two appearances with France national under-21 football team, French-Moroccan midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has recently spoke about his dream of starting a career with the French national football team, instead of representing the Atlas Lions. His statement came as he was contacted several times by the Atlas Lions manager Hervé Renard to join the Moroccan team.
Matteo Guendouzi, who currently plays for Arsenal, told Canal + Sport that he is determined to represent France. «Since I was young, I’ve always played with the French teams», he told French television station Canal Plus. «It’s a dream to play with the France senior team (…) And I’m hoping to get there, it’s a dream for me to make it happen».

For the record, Guendouzi has played for Les Bleus at Under-18, U19 and U20, but he has not made a senior appearance with the team yet.
He was born in France to a Moroccan father and debuted his career at the academy of Paris Saint-Germain, before joining Lorient's academy in 2014. In July 2018, he was transferred to Arsenal.
