Morocco’s economic growth to drop in the first quarter of 2018

According to the forecasts of the planning agency, Morocco’s economic growth have reached 2.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to 3 percent in the previous quarter, reports Reuters quoting the Moroccan body.

The agency said in a statement Wednesday that non-agricultural growth to be at 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018, less than what has been registered in the previous period (3 percent). The agricultural sector, according to the same source, will fall to 3.4 percent after reaching 3.8 percent in the previous quarter.

«Fixed capital formation rose 4.3 percent in the fourth quarter from 2.2 percent a quarter earlier, while money supply growth rose to 4.3 percent from 3.5 percent during the same period», the British agency said quoting the Moroccan agency.

The agency expects growth to fall to 2.5 percent in the first quarter of 2019 and Morocco’s economic growth to reach 3.1 in 2018.
