Hundreds of people, including Denmark's Prime Minister attended on Saturday, January 12th, the funeral of Danish backpacker Louisa Vesterager Jespersen who was killed, December the 16th, alongside her Norwegian friend Maren Ueland in Morocco, reports AFP.
The funeral was held in a small church in Denmark to mourn the 24-year-old student decapitated in a terror attack near Imlil, a small village in the high Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
The 45-minute service for Louisa was held, according to the same source, in the Fonnesbaek Church in Ikast, a Danish town in the Mid Jutland Region.
«Though the pain is unbearable, we must not succumb. We must remember who we are, what we are made of, and what we stand for», Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said during the funeral.
Quoted by AFP, Danish tabloid B.T. reported that 400 people attended Louisa's funeral.
For the record, Louisa and Maren arrived in Morocco in mid December for a month-long Christmas holiday. They both had been studying outdoor activities and tourism in the University of Southeastern Norway and came to Morocco to climb Mount Toubkal.
After their bodies were found near their tent 10 kilometers away from Imlil, Moroccan authorities arrested the four main suspects who pledged allegiance to ISIS one week before committing the awful terror acts.
Police arrested 22 suspects in general, including a Swiss-Spanish national and a British-Swiss man.
ISIS has not claimed responsibility yet for the Imlil killings but, according to BCIJ director, the attack was amateurish and the main suspects had not been in direct contact with the terrorist organization. According to AFP, Maren Ueland's funeral will be held on January the 21st in Norway.
