Belgium is unable to expel a Moroccan criminal after the Kingdom refused to take him back, reports Monday Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
The man in question, Mustapha B., was first sentenced to 17 years in prison for drug trafficking-related offences. Last year, he was sentenced to three year for rape, RTL TV channel says.
The man, who is the brother of Samira B., a radicalized woman who was sentenced to 27 years in prison for killing her boyfriend, was also radicalized. The man had to be released by the Aliens office, the same source said.
The Belgian authorities are unable to send him back to Morocco as the latter did not provide the necessary documents, State Secretary for Migration and Asylum Policy, Social Integration and the Fight Against Poverty Maggie De Block announced. His lawyer, Bart Vosters, said that his client has appealed against the decision.
