Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan represented King Mohammed VI at the funeral of Henri d’Orleans, Count of Paris, which took place on Saturday afternoon at the Saint-Louis Royal Chapel in Dreux, northern France.
Upon his arrival at the Chapel, Prince Moulay El Hassan, who was accompanied by an official delegation that includes the King’s advisor Fouad Ali El Himma and Morocco’s ambassador to France, Chakib Benmoussa, was welcomed by the son of the deceased, Prince Jean d'Orléans.
Afterwards, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan took his place in the front row alongside Queen Sofia of Spain and Prince Albert of Monaco.
The ceremony, which was attended by members of royal and princely families, was marked by tributes paid to the deceased by several members of his family.
Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan then stood by the grave of the Count of Paris before expressing condolences to Prince Jean d'Orléans, Duke of Vendome, and the deceased’s family members.
At the end of the funeral ceremony, His Royal Highness took leave of the family of the Count of Paris before leaving the Saint-Louis Royal Chapel.
Henri d’Orleans, who died on Monday at the age of 85, was the descendant of the last king in France, Louis-Philippe I, who ruled from 1830 to 1848.
