Nearly two tons of chira (cannabis resin) were seized on Tuesday at a stable near a house in Douar Akbat Rmilat, northern city of Asilah, according to local police.

The national security services, in coordination with the royal Gendarmerie brigade, have managed to seize 68 large bundles of chira with a total weight of two tons, according to a statement by the national police (DGSN).

A judicial investigation was opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office to identify all persons involved in the criminal network linked to this case and its possible ramifications at the national and international level, the same source adds.

This operation is part of the security services' efforts to combat drug and psychotropic substances trafficking.
