The provincial security services of Safi arrested twelve individuals for their alleged involvement in acts of hooliganism after the football match on Saturday between Olympic de Safi and Saudi club of Ittihad Jeddah, for the Mohammed VI Arab Cup of champion clubs.
The National Police (DGSN) said in a statement on Sunday that the 12 individuals arrested, including 7 minors, were allegedly involved in stone throwing, property damage, destruction of public property, possession of knives and smoke bombs and acts of violence against civil servants while on duty.
The national security services are continuing the investigations with a view to identifying all the individuals involved in these acts of hooliganism and conducting the necessary preliminary investigations, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, the statement said.
Stone throwing and acts of hooliganism injured members of the public forces in charge of maintaining order, noted the DGSN, indicating that five elements of the police and two of the auxiliary forces were injured and transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment, while 23 vehicles, 9 police vehicles and one auxiliary forces vehicle were damaged.
The suspects were remanded in police custody and the minors were placed under police surveillance, as part of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.
