Will Morocco extend the lockdown for the second time to avoid the spread of the coronavirus ? Less than five days before the previously scheduled end of the containment, Arabic-language daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia reported that the Health Ministry would be in favor of extending the lockdown for 15 days.

This recommendation was reportedly submitted by the Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb to the department in charge of the management of the coronavirus pandemic in Morocco.

During his press briefing on Friday, May 15, the director of the epidemiology department, Mohamed Lyoubi, said that the coronavirus infection rate (R0) has not fallen yet to less than 1.
