Morocco records 563 new coronavirus cases, mainly in Laayoune, Tangier and Kenitra

563 new confirmed coronavirus cases were recorded in Morocco during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 10,907, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.

61 new recoveries were also recorded during the same period, bringing the total number to 8,468. The recovery rate now stands at 77.6%. Two deaths have been recorded during the past 24 hours. The death toll stands at 216, with a fatality rate of 2%.

Morocco has currently 2,223 active cases. 17 of them are in a critical condition : 10 in Marrakech-Safi, 4 in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and 3 in Casablanca-Settat.

168 of the new cases were recorded in Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, including 141 new infections in a Laayoune industrial unit and 27 in Tarfaya.

In the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, 145 new infections were recorded, with 93 cases in Al Fahs Anjra, at a Renault factory, 18 in Tangier, 21 in Larache, 12 in Tetouan and one case in M'dieq.

112 new cases were recorded in an industrial unit in the province of Kenitra and 99 others were found in the region of Casablanca-Settat : 47 cases in El Jadida, 29 in Sidi Bernoussi, 13 in Mohammedia and 10 in the city of Casablanca.

The Marrakech-Settat region recorded 20 new cases, including 15 new infections in Marrakech, 4 in Safi and one case in El Haouz, while 14 new cases were recorded in Fez-Meknes, precisely in Fez.

The Beni Mellal-Khenifra region has recorded 4 new cases in Fqih Bensaleh. One case was recorded in Sidi Ifni, in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.
