As Spain is expected to host a general election on April the 28th, left-wing party Podemos promised to recognize «SADR». It is not the first time that the Spanish political party considers such decision.
In his draft report on Western Sahara, submitted April the 2nd to the Security Council’s members, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres addressed the monitoring of human rights in the Sahara. The report made mention of Morocco’s «restrictions» that hinder the MINURSO’s mission.
The US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs is expected to visit Morocco this week. This visit might give a hard time to some parties in the Kingdom, especially as Antonio Guterres’ report on Western Sahara reflected the US willingness to make a change on the human rights situation in the region.
