The controversial Saudi advisor Turki Al Sheikh announced on his Facebook that he was received, Tuesday, by King Mohammed VI. «I am honored as the President of the Arab Football Federation that the second edition of the Arab Champions Cup will bear a name dear to all the Arabs, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, who honored us with his approval», he wrote on his account.
His statement was accompanied by a photo of him and the Moroccan sovereign. This meeting comes a week after King Mohammed VI sent messages to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman.
For the record, in 2018, Turki Al Sheikh who is also head of the Saudi Entertainment Authority and Chairman of the Arab Football Federation, led a campaign that was hostile to Morocco’s bid to host the 2026 World Cup, openly supporting the North American bid submitted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
