In his Green March speech, delivered on Tuesday, King Mohammed VI called on Algeria to join the creation of «a political mechanism for dialogue and consultation». The Sovereign stressed that Morocco is open to all initiatives «Algeria may want to offer in this regard».
The opportunities offered by the Mauritanian market and its openness to Africa is appealing to Algeria. Moroccans, on the other hand, are interested too in the neighboring country.
The Polisario Front preferred to take note of the new Security Council resolution on Western Sahara. Morocco, on the other hand, welcomed resolution 2440.
Resolution 2440 did not focus on determining the role played by Algeria in the Western Sahara conflict. The country is still considered by the Security Council as a neighboring stateand not a party in the conflict.
