Morocco and Angola are strengthening diplomatic relations which have been stagnating for years. The Southern African nation has been one of the countries that supported the Polisario Front in the past.
According to an Israeli Mivtim’s researcher, ties between Morocco and Israel are warmer that the ones maintained with other Arab countries, such as Egypt and Jordan.
Through its media platforms, Iran gave its version of the story, about the summoning of its ambassador in Nouakchott. Its official press agency Fars News said that Tehran's diplomat was invited to the Mauritanian Foreign Ministry to deliver a message on «the USA's withdrawal from the nuclear deal».
While Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita has repeatedly stressed that Morocco has irrefutable proof backing its decision to sever ties with Iran, Tehran is back with another statement denouncing allegations. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Morocco’s accusations will destabilize the Muslim world.
According to an Iranian foreign ministry official, Morocco’s decision to severe diplomatic relations with his country came under the influence of Saudi Arabia. Morocco has announced earlier last week that the measure wasn’t made under pressure.
On May 1st, Morocco cut diplomatic relations with Iran. The Kingdom denounces the involvement of Hezbollah in supporting the Polisario.
