Cairo is hosting the second meeting of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Transport, Transcontinental and Interregional Infrastructure, Energy and Tourism. The event is attended by Morocco's Secretary of State to Minister of Transport Najib Boulif and a Polisario delegation.
Earlier this month, the Polisario sought the help of an Algerian general to end tensions between two influential tribes in the Tindouf camps. On Tuesday, Brahim Ghali announced that he appointed two «officials» from the Teknas tribe.
According to the United States Department of State's recent estimates, 100,000 Sahrawis live in Tindouf. This number comes as the Security Council has urged the UN for years to conduct a population census in the camps.
