Morocco to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr on Monday

Morocco will celebrate Eid Al-Fitr 1446 on Monday, March 31, 2025, as announced by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in a statement released Sunday evening.

The lunar crescent was sighted after the Maghrib prayer on Sunday, the 29th of Ramadan 1446 H (March 30, 2025), confirming the start of Shawwal the following day.

This year, the timing of Eid has sparked controversy in several Muslim countries, with some declaring the holiday as early as Sunday. Doubts arose over whether the lunar crescent was actually visible on Saturday evening, reigniting debates over the methods used to determine and announce the start of lunar months.
