The European Commission has commended Morocco’s actions in strengthening control of its border, promising to grant Rabat €110 million to help the country manage migration flows.
Pro-polisario Sahrawis sent a letter to the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, protesting against a proposal related to Morocco-EU association agreement. This letter was made public after Sahrawi political actors in Morocco’s Saharan provinces sent a petition to EU bodies.
European Commission representative Sabine Henzler revealed that the European Union institution and Morocco are negotiating the idea to improve the traceability of products coming from Western Sahara.
Morocco and Spain will be granted 140 million euros to manage the current migration crisis. Rabat will receive 70 million euros to purchase border surveillance equipment, in addition to an annual sum of money.
