34.51.وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ فَزِعُوا فَلَا فَوْتَ وَأُخِذُوا مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ

34.51. Ah ! Si tu les voyais lorsque, pris de panique, ils ne trouveront plus d'échappatoire et seront cernés de tout près !

34.51 . Couldst thou but see when they are terrified with no escape , and are seized from near at hand .

34.51. Walaw tara ith faziAAoo fala fawta waokhithoo min makanin qareebin

34.52.وَقَالُوا آمَنَّا بِهِ وَأَنَّى لَهُمُ التَّنَاوُشُ مِن مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ

34.52. En vain, ils s'écrieront alors : «Oui, nous y croyons !» Mais comment pourraient-ils atteindre la foi d'un lieu si éloigné,

34.52 . And say : We ( now ) believe therein . But how can they reach ( faith ) from afar off ,

34.52. Waqaloo amanna bihi waanna lahumu alttanawushu min makanin baAAeedin

34.53.وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَيَقْذِفُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ

34.53. alors qu'auparavant ils refusaient de croire et offensaient le mystère par leurs propos débités à tort et à travers?

34.53 . When they disbelieved in it of yore . They aim at the unseen from afar off .

34.53. Waqad kafaroo bihi min qablu wayaqthifoona bialghaybi min makanin baAAeedin

34.54.وَحِيلَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ مَا يَشْتَهُونَ كَمَا فُعِلَ بِأَشْيَاعِهِم مِّن قَبْلُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا فِي شَكٍّ مُّرِيبٍ

34.54. Désormais, un abîme s'interposera entre eux et l'objet de leurs désirs, comme cela s'est produit pour leurs émules de jadis qui étaient atteints, comme eux, d'un doute irrémédiable.

34.54 . And a gulf is set between them and that which they desire , as was done for people of their kind of old . Lo! they were in hopeless doubt .

34.54. Waheela baynahum wabayna ma yashtahoona kama fuAAila bi-ashyaAAihim min qablu innahum kanoo fee shakkin mureebin
