The closure of Melilla and Ceuta’s borders with Morocco has been extended until February 28, Spain said on Friday. This closure of the Spanish side joins the one that Morocco has maintained since March 13, 2020, due to the coronavirus crisis, El Estrecho Digital wrote on Saturday.

According to the government delegation in Melilla, chaired by Sabrina Moh, the decision was «implemented at midnight, February 1, 2021», according to the «recommendations of the European Union».

For the record, Morocco decided to close its borders since the start of the pandemic, on March 13. The same source recalls that the border were opened to repatriate nationals stranded on both sides.
