The Marrakech Court of First Instance sentenced, Wednesday, French-Algerian actor Brahim Bouhlel and French-Moroccan Zbarbooking to one year in prison. «The two defendants in the Marrakesh case were sentenced to 1 year in prison», the president of the Club of lawyers in Morocco, Mourad Elajouti wrote in a tweet.

The two defendants were arrested earlier in April after the launch of investigation by the king's prosecutor in Marrakech. The latter demanded that they be heard for «defamation and publication of photos of minors without the consent of the parents».

Brahim Bouhlel and Zbarbooking were placed in preventive detention at the end of their custody. On Wednesday April 7, the king's prosecutor in Marrakech decided to prosecute them under arrest.

The two defendants, in addition to the French-Algerian actor Hedi Bouchenafa (who left Morocco) had sparked controversy after posting a video on social media, in which they made degrading remarks on Moroccans and children.
