This year's early fruit and vegetable season in Morocco has been challenging for exporters, according to Moroccan exporter Mostapha Mohattan, who deals with the French market. Speaking to Fresh Plaza, he calls the season «mixed», citing unpredictable weather in Morocco, European farmer strikes, and fluctuating prices, all of which impacted exports.

Despite these disruptive factors, demand for Moroccan produce remains steady. «Fortunately», Mohattan explained, «demand for our products has remained stable. Some Moroccan producers will fare better than others thanks to their ability to adapt to changing market conditions, particularly those who have been able to maintain consistent quality, competitive prices, and a diversified offer».

This was the case for tomato and courgette growers, who saw increased sales compared to the previous season. However, flat green bean producers faced losses due to stagnant market prices and higher production costs.

Summer fruits, especially melons, were particularly affected by the drought, which limited water availability. Parasite infestations also posed a challenge. Watermelon exports dropped significantly, with much of the crop sold locally.
