The government delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernandez, on Friday expressed confidence in Morocco's cooperation to identify and bring to justice the person responsible for the attack in the port of Barbate (Cadiz) by a drug boat last February that killed two Civil Guard officers.

The Spanish official emphasized that the investigation into the case is still ongoing. Fernandez added that Spain has requested Morocco's cooperation in the investigation, citing the existing framework of «cooperation and understanding» between the two countries on judicial matters, including counter-terrorism and organized crime.

Fernandez expressed his strong belief that the Moroccan authorities will cooperate with Spanish authorities to identify and apprehend the perpetrator of the attack in the port of Barbate.

The results of the investigations launched by the Spanish authorities since the incident revealed that the main suspect in the ramming of a boat into a Civil Guard patrol boat, which caused the death of two Spanish officers, is a Moroccan named Karim.
