Algeria criticizes EU backing of Morocco after CJEU ruling

Following its statement on October 5 welcoming the European Court of Justice's recent ruling, Algeria has now added another layer to its response. Through its Minister of Foreign Affairs, the eastern neighbor criticized the broad support given by a large majority of EU countries to the strategic partnership with Morocco.

«The most surprising thing is to hear, as we follow the reactions to the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union, member states of this same institution trying to convince us that trade agreements are above all else when it comes to Western Sahara», said Ahmed Attaf in an address yesterday.

«They say that contracts must be respected—'Pacta Sunt Servanda'—but the European Union has just told us that the law of contracts takes precedence over Jus Cogens (binding law), even over the rulings of Europe’s highest court», he denounced. Jus Cogens refers to fundamental principles of international law that are universally accepted and cannot be derogated from.

«What’s more serious is that all these fabrications are justified by strategic relations with the Kingdom of Morocco, common interests with that country, and growing ambitions to seize the riches of Western Sahara», said Attaf.

Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita warned in Rabat on Tuesday that «the Kingdom of Morocco will not join any partnership that undermines its national sovereignty and territorial integrity». This message, addressed primarily to the European Union, is in line with King Mohammed VI’s speech of August 20, 2022. Echoing the King’s message, Bourita emphasized that the Sahara issue is central to Morocco’s international relations and serves as a litmus test for the sincerity of its friendships and the effectiveness of its partnerships.

Well, I think that concluding peace is synonym of having at least one heavy burden gone, and gives one the opportunity to focus on their own affairs. This alone is worth giving any rapprochement a good try. Yet, my personal guess if I try to analyze things on my humble level, is that given the degree of hatred and ideological conditioning Algerian regime and their followers have been demonstrating with great fervour and steadfast dedication, the only 2 ways I can see them offering a rapprochement are either a Providential miracle, why not ... or them being severely hit, beaten and humiliated by destiny to a point they become lean enough to take a lesson not to be forgotten too soon. That's what happened to Germany, amongst others ... Could be, but not necessarily a war. Divine creativity is without limit. May God protect us from His Wrath. And that's what this Algerian man below seems to prophesize to that Algerian politics. The Algerian man is reporting here what he heard from a mysterious person more than 40 years ago. "The cause of destruction of Algeria is to be found in Western Sahara" But more important is the reaction of the politician at the end of the video. "The guy that told you that prophecy was not right about Western Sahara". They are rushing into it.

Morocco must keep track and record everything the algerian regime has been saying, doing and spending since 1975. The reasons are plenty, but there may come a time when algeria does offer an invitation to rapprochement. When that time comes, Morocco's answer will be: Go F*** yourself.
