Emmanuel Macron will address both Houses of Parliament on October 29, Africa Intelligence reported on Tuesday.
The current French president will thus receive the same treatment as his predecessors: Jacques Chirac, on October 11, 2003, Nicolas Sarkozy, on October 22, 2007, and François Hollande, on April 4, 2013. These speeches, delivered to MPs, came at a time when Morocco-France relations were enjoying an upswing.
Macron's speech is also in keeping with this trend, particularly following the French president's recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, which was formalized in a message addressed to King Mohammed VI on July 31, 2024.
In a press release yesterday, the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery announced that Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron would be visiting Morocco from October 28 to 30.
Since his election in 2017, the president has visited the kingdom twice: on June 14, 2017, as part of a «friendship and working» visit, and on November 15, 2018, during the official inauguration of the high-speed train linking Tangier and Casablanca.
