French National Assembly President leads parliamentary delegation to Morocco

The President of the French National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, begins a three-day diplomatic mission to Morocco from December 11 to 13, 2024, accompanied by Vice-President Naïma Moutchou and Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Bruno Fuchs. The delegation's agenda includes meetings with senior Moroccan officials, including Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, President of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami, and President of the House of Councilors Mohamed Ould Errachid.

According to the French National Assembly's communications office, this visit follows the enhanced partnership declaration signed between King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron in the capital, Rabat, during Macron's state visit to Morocco from October 28 to 30. During this visit, France affirmed its support for Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara and signed investment agreements worth 10 billion euros, including renewable energy projects in the territory.

The parliamentary mission's program features the signing of a parliamentary cooperation protocol on December 11, visits to French business interests in Casablanca, and participation in a women's parliamentarians' forum. The delegation will also meet with representatives of the French community and visit projects aimed at protecting vulnerable women. The visit concludes with a parliamentary twinning ceremony between the French National Assembly and Morocco's House of Representatives on December 13.
