The National Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) held its board meeting on December 23 in Rabat, revealing record-breaking tourism figures for 2024 and outlining strategies for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (Afcon 2025).
According to an ONMT press release, Morocco welcomed 15.9 million tourists by November 2024, marking a 20% increase. The tourism sector recorded 24.1 million overnight stays through October, up 10% from the previous year, with revenues reaching 97 billion dirhams, representing a 9% growth.
The board meeting, chaired by Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor, reviewed the «Light in Action» plan's achievements, including securing over 11 million airline seats, a 25% increase from 2023, and establishing 120 new routes across 25 markets.
For 2025, ONMT plans to leverage Afcon as a showcase for Morocco's tourism potential. The strategy includes launching new waves of the «Land of Light» campaign and a domestic tourism initiative called «Ntla9awfbladna». The office aims to increase airline capacity by 20% to 13.3 million seats and targets 2.5 million clients through tour operators and online travel agencies, projecting a 25% growth from 2024.
