Following Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's statement, his Foreign Minister has now denounced Morocco's autonomy plan for Western Sahara, according to Algerian media.

«The Sahrawi people are masters of their inalienable rights, and the Moroccan occupation is a complete aggression that cannot be legitimized as a fait accompli. We confirm that any solution to the Western Sahara issue that contradicts decolonization is an illusion, such as autonomy», stated Ahmed Attaf on Monday, December 30, during his department's 2024 review presentation.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that his country's position on this issue «draws its strength and righteousness from historical principles that tolerate no falsification, as this is a decolonization matter whose process remains incomplete».

Yesterday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stated in a speech before both Houses of Parliament that Morocco's autonomy plan, proposed in 2007, is «a French idea, not a Moroccan one».
