Moroccan authorities expelled a Spanish national from Dakhla on Sunday, March 2. David Blanco, who serves as the Secretary of International Relations for the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), arrived in Dakhla on Saturday, March 1, on a direct flight from Madrid, reports Iberian media. Before his expulsion, the trade unionist was able to speak with Sahrawis aligned with the Polisario's stance on «human rights violations committed by Moroccan authorities», according to the same source.
After being detained by security services, David Blanco left Dakhla in a taxi headed for Agadir, where he then caught a flight to the Spanish capital.
Since the beginning of the year, Morocco has expelled several Spanish citizens from Western Sahara, including three members of the Basque Regional Parliament, two journalists, and members of associations close to the Polisario. All of them identified themselves as «international observers of the human rights situation» in the province.
