On Friday, March 7, MIGA and the World Bank presented the 10th Gender Leadership Award to Loubna Ghaleb, a board member of the Tanger Med Group, in celebration of International Women's Day.
Established in 2016, this award honors women leaders for their commitment to gender equality within companies. Loubna Ghaleb was recognized for her leadership and efforts in fostering an inclusive and sustainable work environment. This distinction also highlights the collective efforts of the Tanger Med teams to promote the role of women in the port and maritime sector.
An engineer by training, she joined Tanger Med in 2005 after a stint at the Ministry of Equipment. A key figure in the development of the port complex—now the leading container port in Africa and the Mediterranean—she has held several strategic positions, from head of concessions and partnerships to director of strategy and development, before joining the board in 2020.
Her expertise was instrumental in awarding port terminal concessions to major players such as APM Terminals & Maersk, CMA CGM, and Hapag-Lloyd, as well as in establishing the Renault factory in Tangier. She also played a pivotal role in major financial and strategic operations, including the acquisition of Marsa Maroc.
