Turkish police have arrested a Moroccan national who is internationally wanted on serious charges related to the rape of more than 103 children in Spain and for his involvement in the largest child pornography network ever dismantled in the country.

According to Spanish media, the suspect was apprehended in a hotel in the Turkish city of Bodrum, based on an international arrest warrant issued by the Spanish police in coordination with Interpol.

Despite attempting to disguise himself and claiming to be a Palestinian refugee, Turkish authorities were able to identify him through fingerprint analysis and later found his original documents hidden in his bag.

He had been on the run since 2019, having fled just before his trial at the Tarragona court. He was a member of a criminal network that exploited vulnerable children to produce and distribute pornographic material. The group had operated for more than 15 years under the guise of a legitimate company before being dismantled by Spanish authorities.

According to the same source, the network's ringleader, a French national named Jean-Luc Aschbacher, is currently serving a 240-year prison sentence, while his partner received a 19-year sentence.

Turkish authorities have launched extradition procedures to return Al-Nasri to Spain, where he will finally face trial after years on the run.
