The Spanish Civil Guard has announced the dismantling of a criminal organization involved in international drug trafficking. The network was active in the provinces of Almería and Granada in Andalusia and operated in coordination with supply networks in Morocco, with the capacity to transport large quantities of hashish and cocaine.
The operation was carried out jointly by the judicial police units in Catalonia and Almeria, leading to the arrest of five individuals.
According to the Civil Guard on Thursday, the investigation began in February 2024 and was supported by the Regional Center for Analysis and Intelligence against Drug Trafficking in Andalusia.
The organization had a well-structured and efficient logistics network for smuggling drugs. It made use of modified trucks, industrial warehouses, loading points, and pre-planned routes to avoid police checkpoints.
Working in coordination with Moroccan supply networks, the group transported hashish and cocaine on a large scale, employing advanced concealment methods such as double floors inside the fuel tanks of heavy trucks.
The field phase of the operation took place on March 11 in several areas of Almeria province, during which ten searches were carried out, including one at a greenhouse. Authorities seized 262.72 kilograms of hashish, €11,585 in cash, a blank-firing pistol, ammunition, electronic devices, and various documents.
