Allianz Maroc has signed an agreement with Wafa Assurance for the transfer of several sales outlets, as part of commitments made by Sanlam Allianz Africa to Morocco’s Competition Council on insurance distribution. The move addresses concerns over market concentration in specific localities, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.

«This agreement will ensure continuity for policyholders and offer sustainable prospects for intermediaries in the concerned areas», said Fahd Mokdad, CEO of Allianz Maroc, adding that «Wafa Assurance, a leading player in the Moroccan market, is the ideal partner for this operation».

The deal, still subject to regulatory approval, is part of a broader process expected to conclude by year-end. Allianz Maroc and Sanlam Maroc will continue to operate and compete as separate entities.

Mokdad noted that Allianz is also reviewing its geographic footprint, with plans to expand in under-served regions while modernizing systems and adapting offers to market changes.
