Septic tank asphyxiation leaves five dead in Chichaoua province

Five people, including four from the same family, died of asphyxiation on Wednesday while cleaning a septic tank in the village of Ennassir, part of the Sidi Bouzid commune, local authorities reported.

Local and security officials, along with civil protection services, quickly arrived at the scene, where the victims’ bodies were recovered and transferred to the provincial hospital in Chichaoua.

The Royal Gendarmerie has opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
