Rachid Hammouni, president of the parliamentary group of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), submitted a request on Tuesday to the president of the Social Sectors Committee in the House of Representatives for a new hearing with the Minister of Health and Social Protection. The minister had appeared before the committee last Wednesday to discuss the current situation and the measures taken to accelerate the implementation of health sector reforms. This time, Amine Tahraoui is expected to address «the government’s financial support for private clinics».

The request follows a statement from the National Association of Private Clinics (ANCP), which denied receiving any public subsidies, contradicting the minister’s previous remarks. During his earlier presentation to the committee, Tahraoui had announced the suspension of such support.

In his new request, the opposition MP explained that his parliamentary group had already raised the issue with the head of government during the plenary session dedicated to the monthly general policy questions on July 7. In response, Aziz Akhannouch acknowledged «the existence of this support and the suspension of the related files», according to Hammouni.

«During the meeting of the Social Sectors Committee on October 1, 2025, we again raised the same question with the Minister of Health and Social Protection. In his response, he confirmed the existence of this support and his intention to end it», wrote the deputy, also recalling the ANCP’s reaction and highlighting the resulting «contradictions».

In this context, Rachid Hammouni stressed that a new committee meeting is needed to «inform public opinion through the nation’s elected representatives».
